Hybrid delivery system for electronic problem solvers (EPS)
2002
e-Learning is one of the fastest growing trends in higher education. This evolving trend can be classified with respect to the underlying structure and content of these environments. Of particular note is an e-Learning environment, which is structured synchronously, and whose content is based on electronic problem solving. In such environments, the instructor and students meet at the same time but not necessarily in the same location for the express purpose of the expert to remotely guide the novice through a problem solving session. Given this scenario, how do we combine the aspects of a live real-time interaction while still providing remote participants with the flexibility of referring to the history of past events while the lecture is in progress? We propose a browser-based tool, which allows a remote participant to view past events in a seminar environment while simultaneously having the option to automatically remain up-to-date with the ongoing lecture.
