The efficacy and safety of single daily doses of oxaprozin in the treatment of osteoarthritis: A comparison with aspirin

A 6-month double-blind, multicenter investigation was conducted to compare Oxaprozin (600 or 1,200 mg once daily) and aspirin (2,600 or 3,250 mg/d in four divided doses) in patients with osteoarthritis (OA) of the cervical spine, knee, or hip. Therapy was extended on an open basis for an additional 6 months to patients who responded to Oxaprozin therapy. During the double-blind period, both groups showed statistically significant improvement in almost all efficacy measurements, including observer's and patient's opinion, pain intensity, activity impairment, morning stiffness, time to walk 50 feet, and knee flexion and extension.
