A Block Encryption Scheme Based on 3D Chaotic Arnold Maps

2009
In traditional block cipher, S-box is used in many algorithms while the S-box is kept unchanged, so that the weakness of S-box can be pre-analyzed. In this paper, an image encryption algorithm, in which S-box is dynamically constructed, based on 3D chaotic cat maps and Chebyshev map is proposed. First, two-dimensional Arnold map is generalized to 3D for designing S-box, and then diffusion process uses sorting method through chaotic sequence generated by Chebyshev map. Finally after several rounds iteration the encryption process is completed. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the algorithm has large key space, high sensitivity, and high speed. Compared with other algorithms, the proposed algorithm ensures security at the same time keeps faster speed, thus is more suitable for multimedia data encryption.
