Structural and Spectroscopic Studies of Erbium Doped Barium Titanate via Solution Combustion Method

Abstract A series of Erbium (1-11 mol %) ions activated Barium titanate (BaTiO 3 ) nanophosphors were synthesized by solution combustion method using urea (CH 4 N 2 O) as a fuel. The final product was well characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), scanning electron microscopy. The PXRD results confirmed the tetragonal phase. From DRS the E g was estimated and found to be in range of 3.22-3.26 eV. The average crystallite size was calculated using Scherrer’s equation and Williamson Hall (WH) plots and found to be in the range of 20-30 nm. The present method was simple, economical and faster suitable for display device applications
