The present invention relates to methods and olefin cracking hydrocarbon feedstock comprising vacuum resid, comprising: (a) that the vacuum resid conversion reactor (e.g., delayed coker, fluid coker in hot, FlexicokerTM, visbreaking and catalytic hydrogenation visbreaking) a first thermal conversion is carried out, wherein at least 30wt% of vacuum residue is converted to material boiling at 1050 ℉ (566 ℃); (b) the hot resid conversion introduced into a gas / liquid separator, the separator is integrated into a steam cracking furnace, to form a gas phase and a liquid phase; (c) transferring the vapor phase to the radiant furnace steam cracking furnace; and (d) from at least 30wt% of olefin (based on the weight of the total hydrocarbon material exiting the radiant furnace) away from the radiant furnace material recovered.
