The generation of high magnetic fields in Grenoble — installations and magnets

1983
We give a description of the High Field Magnet Laboratory of Grenoble. We present the 10 MW power supply, the 400 m3/h cooling water circuit and the associated technical installations. We describe the watercooled high field magnets (up to 25 T) and their rate of utilization. Technical details of the superconducting magnets (up to 14 T) and the hybrid magnet which is expected to give a continuous field of 30 T in a 5 cm diameter room temperature bore are presented.
