Development of Amine-blend Systems for CO2 Post-Combustion Capture
2015
Abstract Post-combustion process reference is based with an aqueous solution of monoethanolamine (MEA 30wt %). However, regeneration of this solvent require a high energy. This present research work is focused the development and the thermodynamic characterization of amine blends in order to find promising system. Blends of monoethanolamine (MEA), diethanolamine (DEA), N-ethyldiethanolamine (MDEA), and Piperazine (PZ) were used and compared with the reference MEA 30wt%. MDEA 10wt% / Pz 20wt% show the highest CO 2 absorption capacity with 0.92 mol of CO 2 / mol of amine in comparison with MEA 30wt%. From this result, heat of absorption of CO 2 was realized and a value of CO 2 of 79.75 kJ/mol was found.
