NORMAL LATERAL DEVIATION OF THE TRACHEA IN INFANTS AND CHILDREN

Lateral deviation of the trachea at the thoracic inlet may occur normally in infants and children up to 5 years of age and should not be a cause for concern.The displacement is nearly always to the side opposite the aortic arch which probably is the major although not the only cause.Other possible contributing factors are discussed.
