Araneofauna de los alrededores de dos lagunas interiores en Cayo Sabinal, Camagüey, Cuba

2012
The composition, abundance and richness of spider species was studied in the habitats surrounding in Los Mestriles and Zaragosa, two inland lagoons in Cayo Sabinal, Camaguey, Cuba. Two capture methods were used, a direct one in the area surrounding the lagoons and evergreen forest, and “jameo” in the herbaceous vegetation on karstic substrate. In four habitats, 41 individuals belonging to 15 genera and 15 morphospecies of nine families were collected. For the ecosystem Sabana-Camaguey, the presence of Linyphiidae is reported for the first time. In conclusion, species abundance and richness differs between the two lagoons, the karstic area has the largest species abundance and richness; the area surrounding the lagoons had the species abundance and richness maybe due to its low water level which is directly related to food disponibility for spiders.
