Influence of TiN/AlCrN electrode coatings on surface integrity, removal rates and machining time of EDM with optimized outcomes

Abstract The process parameters of pulse on and off, gap current and their influences over the surface roughness, material removal rate, and machining time in Electrical Discharge Machining of Al 6061. The TiN, AlCrN Nano coatings were deposited on EN steel electrodes. Easy prediction was made by the numerical solution and optimization, the influencing process parameters identified for the betterment of the surface finish and Material Removal rate. Optimized results through regression models were compared with the experimental records. SEM analysis used to identify the surface quality reason by the deposited particle size and also compared with the outcomes of EDM.
