Provided is a live overhaul process for a ±800 kV ultra-high voltage DC power transmission line. An operation method of entering an equal potential comprises the steps of: after an equal potential worker finishes dressing according to a clothing specification, climbing to a cross arm along a strain tower, fastening an insulated protection rope to enter a fitting junction at a cross arm side, and fastening a safety belt to an insulator string for grabbing with the hands; after checking the connection of various parts of screening clothing, carrying a potential shift rod to prepare to enter the insulator string; when entering a potential, grabbing, by both hands, one insulator string, treading, by both feet, the other insulator string, and moving in a parallel manner to the position having a distance of 0.5 m from an equalizing ring at a conducting wire side in a manner of crossing two insulators; and quickly extending the potential shift rod, and hooking same to the nearest sub-conducting wire or connecting fitting to conduct the potential shift. By means of the live overhaul process for a ±800 kV ultra-high voltage DC power transmission line, the project research job is completed and the research findings are applied by way of researching the characteristics of the ±800 kV ultra-high voltage DC power transmission line, thereby filling in the blanks in the technical field of ultra-high voltage DC live operations and live overhaul applications at home and abroad.
