Establishment of Guidelines and Centers for CRS and HIPEC – AUSTRIA

In Austria, the treatment of peritoneal surface malignancies using CRS and HIPEC dates back to the year 1992. Currently, there are nine active treatment centers, corresponding to 1.05 treatment centers per million inhabitants. The treatment centers are all active members of the ACO-ASSO PCNetwork of the Austrian Society of Surgical Oncology (ACO-ASSO). In 2013, a National Treatment Guideline for CRS and HIPEC was issued, which has led to a significant standardization of indications for CRS and HIPEC.
