A review of the ocular manifestations of rheumatoid arthritis
2016
AbstractObjectives: To outline several common ocular complications associated with rheumatoid arthritis. Findings: Rheumatoid arthritis is a systemic autoimmune disease that affects approximately 1% of the population worldwide. The synovial membranes of joints are primarily affected; however, rheumatoid arthritis can also manifest in other organs, such as the eye. Conclusions: We emphasize the need for timely diagnosis and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis in order to prevent vision-threatening consequences.
