The Alienation of Interpersonal Relationship——An Analysis of Sister Carrie

Theodore Dreiser's first novel, Sister Carrie is a work of excellence with epoch-making significance in the history of American literature. It is written in the transition period of United States, and the consumption ideology gradually influences the human nature at that time. Based on the writing background, this paper attempts to explore the alienation of interpersonal relationship under the consumer society in this novel through the perspective of Marxism and text analysis.
