Guidelines for the evaluation of treatment in congestive heart failure

Treatment of congestive heart failure is based on two aims: (1) Reduction in mortality. This can only be proven in rather large randomized trials, such as the CONSENSUS-triaL, and (2) Improvement of symptoms and signs of congestive heart failure. This effect has be be evaluated in the individual patient.
