Evolution of Micro-Discharge Dynamics in A2-Dimensional Packed Bed Reactor

2018
Plasma enhanced packed bed reactors (PBRs) are important technologies for ozone generation, dry-reforming of methane, plasma catalysis, and plasma-aided combustion. A typical PBR consists of a plasma source resembling a dielectric-barrier-discharge filled with a dielectric aggregate. The micro-discharges that form in and around the porous dielectric media or dielectric aggregate are poorly understood, which makes it difficult to optimize these devices for specific applications. In particular, characterizing the evolution of microdischarges is important to developing scaling laws.
