Apparatus provided with universal structure capable of driving multiple light emitting diode strings

2012
Disclosed is an apparatus provided with a universal structure capable of driving multiple light emitting diode strings. The apparatus comprises interlaced connection between multiple controllable light emitting diode strings and multiple switching units. Each switching unit is connected between a leading controllable light emitting diode string and a following controllable light emitting diode string. Under the control of a controller, each switching unit can connect the lading controllable light emitting diode string with the following controllable light emitting diode string in series or in parallel, or makes the leading controllable light emitting diode string to form a short circuit so that the multiple controllable light emitting diode strings can form various serial connection combinations or parallel connection combinations along with the scope of automatically detected input voltages. Each controllable light emitting diode string comprises multiple light emitting diodes connected between a positive end and a negative end, and multiple control switches. Each control switch is corresponding to one light emitting diode, the controller controls the control switches, and when the input voltages change with time, by using the switching-on or switching-off of the control switches, the number of the light emitting diodes connected in series in each light emitting diode string is adjusted.
