Synthesis of high-aspect-ratio Au microwires with biomolecule for electrochemical sensing

Au crystalline microwires with unprecedented diameter of >500 nm and aspect ratio >400 were synthesized using L-tyrosine as reducing and capping agent. Au microwires possessed high conductivity and electrocatalytic activities for glucose and Hg (II). Their large diameters and aspect ratios also offered maneuverability and facileness to produce Au microelectrodes.
