The Structure of Nitronitrosoaconitinic Acid, the Oxidation Product of Aconitine with Nitric Acid

The structure of nitronitrosoaconitinic acid, which is an oxidation product of aconitine with nitric acid, was confirmed by spectroscopic methods. This compound is a new type of acid, a 2-nitro-2-cyclohexen-1-one, with a pKa value comparable to that of carboxylic acids.
