Prophylaxis with ciprofloxacin in transurethral surgery

1994
Abstract The purpose of the study was to compare in a prospective randomized study the effect of three doses of prophylactic administration of ciprofloxacin in 25 patients and a control group of 26 patients without prophylactic antibiotic treatment in conjunction with transurethral surgery. In the group of patients with prophylaxis there is a significantly lower incidence of clinical manifestations of infection, as compared with the group of patients without prophylaxis which reduces the necessity to administer antibacterial drugs during the postoperative period.
