Determination of Trace Iron (III) in Water by Iron (III)-Orange G-Resonance Light Scattering Spectrometry

2013
The resonance light scattering (RLS) spectra of Fe3+ -orange G (OG) system have been studied. It was found that Fe3+ could enhance the RLS signal of OG.Further investigation indicated that there was a linear relationship between the enhanced RLS (△I) intensity and Fe3+ (ρFe3+) concentration.A method for the determination of Fe3+ was established and the optimal testing conditions were studied and discussed. The linear range for Fe3+ was 0.028~1.00 μg/mL and the detection limit was 0.009 μg/mL. This method had been satisfactorily used in the determination of trace Fe3+ in water.
