ECO TPU, nuevo poliuretano termoplástico de fuentes renovables

A new family of BIO thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU) is presented, providing TPU grades for injection moulding, extrusion, and adhesives. A full range of BIO TPU from plant-based sources derived from bifunctional polyols has been developed. The reaction of these polyols in the TPU formulation results in new TPU with a renewable content ranging from 20% to 90% by weight. Compared to standard petrochemical-based grades, the new 'green TPU' shows better hydrolytic resistance, and maintains equivalent mechanical properties like first-class thermoplastic polyurethanes.
