The invention discloses a compound fertilizer for double-season early rice in south-central China and the application of the compound fertilizer. The compound fertilizer comprises a nitrogen fertilizer, a phosphate fertilizer, a potassium fertilizer and an NAM combination inhibitor, wherein the mass fraction A of the nitrogen fertilizer in the compound fertilizer is 20 to 30 percent based on a nitrogen element; the mass fraction B of the phosphate fertilizer in the compound fertilizer is 9 to 15 percent based on phosphorus pentoxide; the mass fraction C of the potassium fertilizer in the compound fertilizer is 7.5 to 12.5 percent based on potassium oxide; and the mass fraction D of the NAM combination inhibitor in the compound fertilizer accords with an equation of (A+B+C):D=40:(0.5-0.7). An application method for the compound fertilizer comprises the following steps of: basically applying the compound fertilizer according to the fertilizing amount of 24 to 30kg/mu; cultivating with water after the fertilizer is applied to ensure that the compound fertilizer is fully mixed with soil; and dressing urea according to the fertilizing amount of 2.5 to 7.5kg/mu in a seedling establishment period of the rice. The compound fertilizer has a scientific formula, high fertilizer efficiency and a high nutrient utilization rate, is safe and environment-friendly and is convenient to apply.
