Improvement in the survival for adult soft tissue sarcoma with adjuvant anthracycline chemotherapy combination: A meta-analysis and metaregression.

2010
10042 Background: A growing body of literature suggests that adjuvant anthracycline chemotherapy combination may have potential to improve survival in patients with soft tissue sarcoma. Our aim was to examine the strength of this association through a detailed meta-analysis and metaregression analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Methods: Eligible trials were identified first from earlier published meta-analyses and systematic reviews. We also used MEDLINE, Cancerlit, and EMBASE databases to identify additional studies and published abstracts from major scientific meetings since 1980. Only RCTs with an analysis by an intention-to-treat principle were included. Pooled relative risk (RR) estimates and 95% confidential intervals (CIs) were calculated using the random- and fixed-effects models. Subgroup and meta-regression analyses were also conducted. Results: Eighteen RCTs of adjuvant anthracycline chemotherapy combination for soft tissue sarcoma contributed to the analysis (n=2145). Adjuvant ant...
