Optimization of Cavity-backed patch array antenna using Genetic Algorithm

In this paper, optimization problem of a cavity-backed patch array antenna with low active return loss is discussed. By employing the genetic algorithm technique, active return loss is optimized. And an optimal designed cavity-backed patch array antenna is fabricated. From the measurement result, it shows an active return loss less than -8 dB within the desired bandwidth and 60 degrees of scanning angle.
