A New FTTP Technology——Active Ethernet

A new hot FTTP choice besides PON, active Ethernet which best combines Ethernet with IP technology is introduced. After analyzing their network architecture, we compare in detail these two technologies from several aspects: transmission distance, cost, bandwidth, flexibility, reliability, maintenance, and so on. Finally, a conclusion is given that active Ethernet is superior to PON in many terms and should be paid attentions by carriers.
