A Novel Multibeam Slot Array Antenna Based on Parabolic Lens BFN for Mass Production

In this letter, a simple SIW multibeam antenna on the ground of parabolical lens beam-Forming network is put forward for mobile satellite communications. The presented antenna is consisted of a port part (Rogers RT/duroid 5880) as well as an antenna part (Rogers RT/duroid 6002). By manufacturing the antenna part via substrates of different dielectric constant, whereas maintained the port deck, flexible beam tunability is implemented in this multibeam antenna. The gain of the antenna up to 14.5 dBi within 27 GHz~ 28 GHz after experimental verification. Wide scan angle of beams varying from −59° to 62° is also observed. This antenna characterized better property and simpler architecture while compared with others. The operation principle, design process, and performance of the proposed antenna are expounded sequentially.
