The influence of the parameters of hydroextrusion of low density polyethylene on its properties and structure

Abstract The results of a study of the processing of LDPE in the solid state by the hydroextrusion method are presented. The relations of extrusion pressure to extrusion ratio, temperature, angle of forming matrix and extrudate production rate have been obtained. LDPE is well suited to processing by this method, its strength and elasticity characteristics being thereby increased 7 times. The resulting material has an anisotropic, fine crystalline structure with a high degree of molecular-crystalline orientation.
