Electrooptic modulator implemented by stripline waveguide resonators

1988
A microwave electrooptic light modulator based on a lithium niobate crystal of dimensions 3 x 3 x 30 mm is described. The required passband is provided by a system of coupled quarter-wave stripline resonators, in the capacitor gap of one of which the electrooptic crystal is placed. The modulator provides 26% modulation of the radiation of a He-Ne laser with a nonuniformity of 0.5 dB in a band of 570-588 MHz at a control power of 1 W.
