Influence of technological factors on the chemical resistance of enamel coatings

1989
At the present time titania enamels are widely used for steel and cast-iron articles for domestic purposes. Important disadvantages of these enamels include the low resistance to corrosive media, such as hot aqueous solutions of food acids, and also a tendency to discoloration because of the relatively high porosity~ This is inadmissible with the application of the enamel to internal surfaces (casseroles, teapots, etc.), since they are in constant contact with the acid solutions from the food.
