A flow device for tailored velocity profiles

A velocity profile with alternate highand low-peaks has many technological applications. Such a velocity profile can be obtained in a two dimensional tes t section by dividing the flow into a diverging (converging) section in the middle and converging (diverging) sections a t the top and bottom by inclined divider plates. The geometry of the velocity profile is controlled by the geometry of the test section. Experimental results from twelve different tes t section geometries a re presented and the effect of the test section geometry on the velocity profile is discussed.
