Process development for the MMP inhibitor AG3433

2004 
AG3433 is a selective and potent inhibitor of the Matrix Metalloproteinase (MMP) class of enzymes. The development of an efficient process for the large-scale production of the drug substance is presented. Various synthetic routes to this 3-substituted N-aryl pyrrole are discussed. An efficient method for the N-arylation of substituted pyrroles is reported.
