Analysis of the typology of load curves based on data classification methods

The behavior of consumers of electric energy is categorized into several classes of consumption or activities, integrating distribution planning of electric utilities and tariff reviews of the brazilian electricity system. Considering the importance of determining the typologies of load curves for electric power concessionaires, this paper presents a study based on the theory of sampling associated to data analysis techniques, making it possible to characterize the universe of consumers from a reduced quantity of sample loads measurements. In order to reach this objective, the classification of the samples is done by means of traditional heuristic methods and practices of the sector, opting for the method of partition — method K-Means and by the method of aggregation — Ward.
