Measurement of daily solar radiation with Eppley Black and White Pyranometer in Osmaniye region, Turkey

2018
This study present measurements of the solar global radiation using the Eppley Black and White Pyranometer (Model 8-48) over the period four years from January 2014 to December 2017 on Karacaoglan Campus, Osmaniye Korkut Ata University. Hourly, daily, monthly, and yearly solar global radiation values were calculated and analyzed from 1 minute average recorded values (in unit of mili volt). Daily maximum and minimum global solar radiations were recorded to be 619.24 W/m2 on July 28, 2016 and to be 20.71 W/m2 on December 23, 2017, respectively. Daily total average global radiation on a horizontal surface for four years was calculated to be 543023.56 W/m2. Values of total and average of monthly daily global solar radiation were measured to be 4755.43 W/m2. From the data, it can be say that Osmaniye on the Mediterranean region of Turkey receive a good global solar radiation and has a good solar energy potential.
