Study on chemical control technique of Ostrinia furnacalis on sweet corn

Screening test of pesticides were conductde on Ostrinia furnacalis by using the potter spray tower.The results showed that Ostrinia furnacalis were sensitive to lorsban and abamectin beta-cypermethrin whose lethality rates to the pest were all more than 90% in 72 hours after treatment.Lorsban beta-cypermethrin and beta-cypermethrin had lower toxic effect on Ostrinia furnacalis,and their lethality rates were 87.8%,78.9% respectively.In field plot experiment,similar to the screening test,the results showed that abamectin beta-cypermethrin and lorsban had high control efficacy against Ostrinia furnacalis.Moreover,in a further trial,abamectin beta-cypermethrin was chosen to spay in the field.The result showed that abamectin beta-cypermethrin was a superior pesticide to control Ostrinia furnacalis in the sweet corn field.
