A manufacturing method for an electrode active material includes an activation process step wherein a carbon material is activated in the presence of water at a temperature of 250°C or more, and at a pressure of 3.9MPa or more. Thus it is possible to obtain an electrode active material which can provide an electrode exhibiting excellent durability.
