Blended Education Systems: In Search of Deep Learning

This chapter presents some theoretical fundamentals that can help in the design of courses or training programmes based on blended learning. This foundation is articulated around the concept of deep learning as the main purpose of the BL system in higher education. Three fundamental theoretical elements are established to understand this type of learning: activity, collaborative social interaction and reflection based on experience. The second part of the chapter describes the main instrumental design models that can serve as a guide for the implementation of BL courses by university teachers.
