Synthesis and Luminescence Properties of Novel Fluorescent Material Used in Anti-counterfeiting Packages

A new N,N,O-tridentate chelate ligand,namely 2-(benzimidazol-2-yl)-8-octyloxy quinoline (BIOQ),was synthesized with 8-hydroxyquinadine and o-phenylenediamine as the starting materials. A novel luminescent Ru (II) complex [R (II) (bpy)2 BIOQ][PF6]2 was synthesized with bpy ((bpy=2,2'-bipyridine) as the first ligand and 2-(benzimidazol-2-yl)-8-octyloxyquinoline (BIOQ) as the second ligand. The test showed that this Ru(II) complex exhibited relatively high thermal stability with a melting point of 299~300 ℃ and a decomposition temperature (onset) of 299 ℃. The photoluminescent spectrum of the complex in solid state exhibited a strong emission band at 450 nm. At the same time,the applied prospect of complex was studied in anti-counterfeiting packages.
