The effects of Mn, Cu, Zn on SOD activity and cold tolerance of cucumber leaves through increasing the concentrations of Cu(superscript 2+), Zn(superscript 2+) or Mn(superscript 2+) respectively in nutrient solutions on cucumber seedlings were investigated. . The results indicated that increasing the concentrations of Mn(superscript 2+), Cu(superscript 2+) or Zn(superscript 2+) in nutrient solutions respectively could enhance the SOD activity and reduce the electrolytic leakage in cucumber seedling leaves, in the sequence of their functions was Mn(superscript 2+) > Cu(superscript 2+) > Zn(superscript 2+).
