A Man Who Had Experienced Various Vicissitudes of Life but Never Stopped Striving——For the Centennial of the Birth of the Late Professor WU You-san

To commemorate the centennial of the birth of the late Professor WU You-san,famous phytopathologist,Professor LIU Wei-zhi was invited by the column of Agronomists of the Journal of Shenyang Agricultural University(Social Science Edition) to write the article in which Professor WU,the author's mentor,was described as having tenaciously strived for all his life,scholarly and refined,hard and unyielding,and having made outstanding achievements in phytopathology as well.Professor WU was born in Yuyao County,Zhejiang Province in Apr.21,1909 and died in Feb.6,1997.As a tenured professor of Shenyang Agricultural University and a China famous phytopathologist.Mr.WU was always striving in adversity in his living years.He contributed much to his nation in the aspects of scientific research,agricultural education,phytopathological discipline building,etc.He was repeatedly rewarded prizes from ministry-level,province-level to state-level for his over 10 research results and published about 100 academic papers and quite a few monographs.Also,Mr.WU was elected associate chairman of the Pytopathologists' Society of China(PSC) and chairman of the PSC North-Eastern Branch.
