Estimación del tamaño óptimo de parcela experimental en ají dulce (Capsicum chinense Jacq.) Ricardo

El aji dulce (Capsicum chinense) es una hortaliza muy utilizada en la cocina venezolana. Sus frutos son una buena fuente de fitoquimicos, tales como fenoles, flavonoides y capsaicinoides, los cuales son potentes antioxidantes. Para planificar ensayos agricolas es importante conocer el tamano de parcela experimental apropiado, que permita disminuir el error experimental y los costos. Sin embargo, en Venezuela no se dispone de este tipo de informacion para aji dulce. Con base en estas consideraciones, el objetivo de este trabajo fue determinar el tamano optimo de la unidad experimental para aji dulce ‘Llanero’. Para ello, se realizo un ensayo de uniformidad de 3 000 m2 (1,4 m entre hileras y 0,9 m entre plantas) en Montalban, estado Carabobo, Venezuela. Se utilizaron los metodos de maxima curvatura y de regresion multiple. La cosecha se realizo a los 90 dias (d) despues del trasplante y las variables evaluadas fueron longitud del fruto (cm), peso del fruto (g) y numero de frutos por planta. El analisis de las variables estudiadas por ambos metodos permite concluir que el tamano optimo de la unidad experimental para aji dulce ‘Llanero’ cultivado bajo condiciones de campo es de 10 m2. ABSTRACT Sweet pepper (Capsicum chinense) is a vegetable widely used in the Venezuelan cuisine. Its fruits are a good source of phytochemicals, such as phenols, flavonoids and capsaicinoids, which are potent antioxidants. To establish agricultural trials is important to have the appropriate experimental plot size, which allows to reduce the experimental error and costs. However, in Venezuela there have not been done trials of this kind for sweet pepper. On the basis of these considerations, the objective of this study was to determine the optimal size of the experimental plot for sweet pepper ‘Llanero’. To accomplish that, an uniformity trial of 3 000 m2 (1.4 m between rows and 0.9 m between plants) was conducted in Montalban, Carabobo State, Venezuela. Maximum curvature and multiple regression methods were used. The harvest was performed at 90 days (d) after transplanting, and the evaluated variables were fruit length (cm), fruit weight (g), and number of fruits per plant. The analysis of the variables studied by both methods concluded that the optimum size of experimental unit for sweet pepper ‘Llanero’ grown under field conditions is 10 m2.
