Development of an integrated GUI framework for post-disaster data fusion visualization

2005
Dealing with fused data is a complicated task and its visualization is even more difficult to achieve with the paradigm of common georeferencing systems. This is especially true in high-level fusion visualization for situation awareness. We have developed a disaster-monitoring interface that runs in a HLA/RTI network for an earthquake simulation. Damage and recovering activities, such as casualties and ambulance routings, are presented in a GIS vector map with fast data manipulation and display control. In addition, incoming data is accumulated over time for dynamic visualization, which includes the morphing of casualty clusters. This feature is effective in keeping track of clusters so that a user can easily comprehend the trend of a situation. This paper also addresses our unique approach to the full capabilities of multiple views by the integration of a 2D and 3D display.
