Glycogenosomes in renal tubular cells of diabetic animals.
1971
Electron microscopic evidence is presented for the occurrence of “glycogenosomes” in renal tubular cells of spontaneously diabetic spiny mice and in rats rendered diabetic by the injection of streptozotocin. The mechanisms which may be responsible for the occurrence of glycogenosomes in experimental diabetes are discussed in the light of observations made in newborn animals and in patients with type II glycogenosis (Pompe's disease).
