Expression of Sterol Carrier Protein2 Gene in Patients with Cholesterol Gallstone of Uygur Nationality in Xinjiang

2010
Objective:To investigate the expression level of liver SCP2 in Uygur and han Nationality patients with cholesterol gallstone and Uygur Nationality patients without gallstones and changes of serum lipid in Xinjiang levels. Methods:The expression level of liver SCP2 protein was studied in 20 Uygur Nationality patients and 20 han Nationality patients with cholesterol gallstone and 20 Uygur Nationality patients without gallstones by Western blot method;the serum lipid levels were also determined by biochemical techniques. Results:There were no significant differences between 20 Uygur Nationality patients and 20 han Nationality patients with cholesterol gallstone, however, the expression of SCP2 protein was increased significantly in cholesterol gallstone patients of Uygur Nationality as compared with non-gallstone patients of Uygur Nationality. There were no significant differences between the serum lipid levels of the three groups.Conclusion:SCP2 gene was over expressed in cholesterol gallstone patients of Uygur Nationality in Xinjiang, indicating that SCP2 maybe one of the important etiologic causes of cholesterol gallstones.
