Combination of filtering methods for relative amplitude-preserved multiple suppression

2013
Summary CRP gathers used for pre-stack inversion should be without multiples or other incoherent noises. Radon filtering is an effective method and widely used for multiple attenuation. However, a few multiples still exist after Radon filtering. In this paper, the Karhunen-Loeve (KL) transform and polynomial fitting are performed as complementary processing for the suppression of residual multiples and other noises. The 2-D synthetic Marmousi2 and 3-D filed datasets are used to test the combination of filtering methods. The results demonstrate that the combinations dramatically improve the SNR of gathers and the accuracy of AVO properties. The CRP gathers after the application of proposed combination seem to be very promising for AVO analysis and pre-stack inversion.
