Small Scale Irrigation and Food Security

2012
Ethiopia's smallholders farmers struggle to make a living in an extremely testing environment. Terrain, remoteness, and climate all pose significant challenges to crop and livestock production; agricultural technologies are basic; market access is weak; and history and politics add to the difficulties faced by a predominantly subsistence agricultural population. Hence, this study aims to examine the impact of small-scale irrigation on household food security in drought prone areas of northern Ethiopia.
