From ‘Accumulation of Capital’ to Solidarity Based Ways of Life

2016
Searching for the reasons for the weakness of the Left leads one to Marx’s analysis of the ‘silent compulsion’ of capital and to Luxemburg’s analysis of the aggressive essence of finance capital. Lefebvre urged the supporters and followers of Marx to deal with the daily life of working people, which Langley takes up today. Through a critical appropriation and progression of the theories of Marx and Luxemburg, it is possible to discover and explain how financialisation progressively shapes the daily life of people and makes it extremely difficult to identify the common interests of the exploited. These interests are to be found in housing and pension systems in particular and to be utilised by emancipatory-solidary agents.
