Reinforcing fibre composite material

2015
Provided is a reinforcing fibre composite material comprising at least a matrix resin and discontinuous reinforcing fibres which include discontinuous reinforcing fibre aggregates, wherein the discontinuous reinforcing fibres include at least 5 wt% of discontinuous reinforcing fibre aggregates (A) in each of which the aspect ratio (width of the discontinuous reinforcing fibre aggregate/thickness of the discontinuous reinforcing fibre aggregate) of a maximum width section, where the width of the discontinuous reinforcing fibre aggregate in a direction intersecting the alignment direction of the discontinuous reinforcing fibres is greatest, is at least 1.3 times the aspect ratio of at least one of the ends of the discontinuous reinforcing fibre aggregate, said maximum width section being present in a position excluding both ends of the discontinuous reinforcing fibre aggregate, when the discontinuous reinforcing fibre aggregate is projected in two dimensions. Accordingly, a reinforcing fibre composite material can be provided which is capable of achieving both high mechanical properties and high flowability during moulding, and which is provided with optimal conditions for exhibiting two-dimensional isotropy and particularly excellent flowability during flow moulding.
