The invention relates to a waveform generating system and a waveform generating method based on a microcontroller. The microcontroller, a double-port static random access memory (SRAM) and a reversible binary counter are utilized, firstly, a section of initial unrepeated waveform data in the waveform period is written into the SRAM, then, the size symmetry of a section of waveform data at the back side in the period and the waveform data stored in the SRAM is utilized, in addition, the reversible binary counter is used for counting completing signals so that the counting mode and the amplifying circuit form are selected before the re-counting starting, then, the counter works, and in addition, the waveform data stored in the SRAM is output after passing through digital-to-analog converter and proper amplifying circuits. The system and the method have the advantages that the data number in each period can be increased, so the waveform precision is improved, the repeated data is eliminated, only basic waveform data is stored, the size of the SRAM can be reduced, and the design cost is reduced.
