Wideband Cylindrical Conformal Patch Antenna Under Radiation of Dual-Resonant Modes

2019
In this paper, an ultrathin cylindrical conformal microstrip patch antenna is proposed for bandwidth enhancement through the operation of dual resonant modes. Firstly, through loading the shorting wall, the undesired radiation even modes are removed. Then, by loading a pair of shorting pins under the radiating patch, the lower resonant frequency is significantly increased while maintaining the higher frequency unchanged. Finally, through etching out two parallel slots, the dual resonant modes are reallocated in proximity to each other for bandwidth enhancement. The simulation results demonstrate that the impedance bandwidth of the antenna is extended to 9.1% with the center frequency of 1.65 GHz.
